How to Attach a Pom Pom
Temporary pom pom attachment
I recently heard someone say they used a button to temporarily attach pom poms to their hats. Until I played with attaching the pom pom, I couldn’t quite picture how this would work. Because of that, I decided to share my process with you. This process will work for a pom pom with strings that are attached. If you don’t have strings/thread attached, then you need to add it.
Put the strings through the hat; from the outside to the inside (see above photo). I pulled the thread through the hat just to the outside of the final round of stitches. The inside of the hat will look like the below photo.
Thread the strings through a button. I used a button that was 1 inch in diameter. I would recommend using a button that is large enough to stabilize the pom pom and light enough to not weigh down the top of the hat.
Tie the strings on top of the button as in the photo below. I used a shoelace knot so the pom pom can be removed when I wash the hat.
Trim the threads and tuck the strings under the button. Your pom pom is now securely attached!
Enjoy your new hat!!!!
Do you have another method? If so, let me know in the comments. I would love to hear about other methods.
